Workshop Description
Families face tremendous pressure in today's society. Harried schedules, misplaced priorities, and spiritual neglect are among
the reasons why our families are literally falling apart. Sadly, all too often the families inside our churches fare no better than those
who are unchurched, as evidenced by the issues both groups struggle with and by their similar divorce rates.
This workshop helps rescue families and brings peace by initially stabilizing the family in crisis. After stabilization, the family
identifies the dysfunctional family dynamics that fuels the crisis and uses biblical concepts to eliminate them. By the end of the
workshop participating families have a LifePlan composed of practical methods and tools to solve problems and prevent them from
happening again.
The "Helping the Distressed Family" workshop is biblically rooted and clinically sound, its principles having been used successfully
by the facilitator and other licensed clinical counselors for many years. The workshop is useful for both families in crisis as well as
for church staff or lay people who are interested in beginning a family crisis intervention ministry.
