Dennis has a rich and varied background in ministry that spans more than forty years.  He responded
to God's call and began preaching at age 17, with his first pastorate beginning when he was 18 years
of age.   Since that time his zeal for building the Church and the preaching ministry has not wavered.

Dennis' varied pastoral experience enables him to readily identify with pastors who serve in rural,
small town and urban churches.  In addition, he personally understands the challenges bivocational
pastors face and easily relates to those who are full-time pastors.

Dennis is a preacher’s preacher.  Recently when speaking to a group of pastors, one young preacher
shared with Dennis that he had been so discouraged he was about to quit the ministry—until he heard
Dennis’ message.  He thanked Dennis profusely for encouraging him and challenging him.  The
young pastor’s passion for preaching was renewed and he credited Dennis with fanning the flame!

Besides preaching in local church revivals, Dennis has led seminars in evangelism and money
management for over 12 years.  He has always been active beyond the local church ministry, serving
in numerous capacities in Southern Baptist associations and as a member of the Executive Board of
the Missouri Baptist Convention.  Dennis also has served as a chaplain for the Army National Guard, a
truck stop ministry, and a resort ministry.  While serving in key leadership positions, Dennis never
abandoned the call to personal evangelism.

Dennis is a consultant for Building Healthy Churches and has a Diploma in business management
from Platt College and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Illinois University.  He has attended
Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and is a certified teacher/trainer with Evangelism Explosion.
In addition, he has completed training for the Transitional Pastor Ministry through LifeWay Church
Resources (SBC).
